I succesfully applied for a University of Huddersfield bursary in 2006 to work on a project devised by Dr Liz Holt investigating laughter in call centre interaction.
Using 40 hours of data recorded at a gas supply company I am investigating the importance of laughter in interactions using Conversation Analysis as my methodology.
My main goals are to analyse and expand o the term 'laughable' and provide a clearer definition for its use. I am also interested in sequences of talk that include laughter, which move away from task orientated talk but yet remain within institutional dialogue.
